Dehydrated Illusions

"Dehydrated Illusions" is a track I crafted during the peak of summer, back in July last year. It was part of my 30-day beat challenge, where I pushed myself to create new music every day. This particular tune was crafted on one of the hottest days I've ever experienced. I was literally melting away the heat, but I was determined to finish my daily beat for the challenge.

As sweat dripped down my face, I grabbed my guitar and recorded this wonderfully off-kilter riff that seemed to embody the sweltering heat. To add an exotic touch, I incorporated the rhythmic allure of bongos. Surprisingly, the entire composition came together in just a couple of hours. It was a moment of creative flow that I won't forget.

Listening back to "Dehydrated Illusions" a few times later, I knew it had become one of my all-time favorite tracks. There was something about its unique energy and the way it captured the essence of that blistering summer day. It became a personal milestone, a testament to my dedication and love for music.

Endless Breeze

This track is a captivating homage to the golden era of hip-hop, drawing inspiration from the infectious beats of the 80s and 90s. Infused with soulful elements, I sampled a captivating loop that sets the foundation for the song. Building upon this foundation, I added layers of guitar, skillfully crafted to give the impression of being sampled as well. The guitar and bass riff inject the track with undeniable energy, while the drums anchor it firmly in the realm of old-school hip-hop, evoking the spirit of New York's East Coast scene.

The artwork accompanying this release adds another layer of nostalgia, as it was captured using a Cosina CT9 35mm camera with Kodak Ektar 100 film, enhancing its authentic aesthetic. Remarkably, the perfect shot was taken on the 23rd exposure of the roll, aligning beautifully with the track's release date on the 23rd of June—an extra special day, as it also marks my birthday. It's as if the universe conspired to bring everything together in perfect harmony.

Immerse yourself in this meticulously crafted track, and you'll feel the synergy and passion that went into its creation. Every element harmonizes to create a sonic experience that pays homage to the past while forging its own unique identity. Prepare to be transported back in time, as the music resonates with the spirit of a bygone era, yet remains unmistakably fresh and captivating.

Wouldn’t Ya

This hiphop-inspired jazzy lofi beat called "Lemon Squeezy" is a true gem, and is packed with swinging guitars, detailed melodies, and beautiful vocal pads that will transport you to a world of relaxation and good vibes.

The track is fresh like a lemon and fits perfectly to the summer day sun. So get ready to kick back with this laid-back instrumental track that's perfect for lazy afternoons and carefree days.

Endless Breeze

Endless Breeze is a track that evokes feelings of freedom and relaxation and creates a sense of longing for a slower pace of life that often comes with summer. It reminds us of the carefree days of childhood, the smell of freshly cut grass and the cooling wind through your hair.

The track has a fresh and light drum groove, lush guitar melodies and captivating basslines. Halfway the track a new guitar melody enters, which evokes a feeling of endlessness and carries the track along until it fades away.

Reminisce

I made the track "Reminisce" as a way to channel my emotions and experiences about my time living in New York. It was a place that left a lasting impression on me and served as a source of inspiration for my art.

Although I only lived in New York for 1.5 years, it felt like a much longer time because of all the experiences I had and the people I met. The graffiti in Brooklyn, the rugged feel of the subway stations, and the busy sidewalks in Manhattan all left a lasting impression on me. "Reminisce" is my tribute to that time and the city will always be a part of me.

Wouldn’t Ya

This track has an infectious energy that draws you in from the very first notes. The song captures the essence of J Dilla's production style, with its laid-back groove and captivating melody. The combination of Bossa Nova vibes and jazz influences creates a sound that is quite unique and almost reminds a bit of fusion.

"Wouldn't Ya" was born out of a studio session between Louk, Melatone, and RINZ, where they played around with the guitar, keys, and some drum loops from Hoffy Beats. The creative energy in the room was palpable, and the initial idea for the song quickly took shape. Melatone and Han’au then added some warm vocal sounds, bringing the track to life in a whole new way. Finally, Hoffy Beats added some killer keys and synth solos, which took the track to the next level.

The result is a song that fuses the inspirations of five talented artists coming together to create something truly special. "Wouldn't Ya" is a testament to the power of collaboration and creativity. The track captures the essence of what makes music so special: the ability to bring people together and create something beautiful.

Waves at the Shore

The waves at the shore were a constant presence, a rhythmic pulse that drew me in and held me in its grasp. As I sat on the sand, watching the water roll in and out, I couldn't help but feel a sense of peace and calm wash over me.

The sound of the waves crashing against the shore was like a soothing lullaby, a gentle reminder of the power and majesty of the sea. I closed my eyes and let myself be carried away by the sound, letting my mind wander and drift.

As the sun began to set, the waves took on a different hue, glowing with a golden light that seemed to reflect the warmth and beauty of the day. I watched in awe as the water shimmered and sparkled, each crest and trough a testament to the endless cycle of life.

In that moment, as I sat by the shore, I felt a deep connection to the world around me, a sense of belonging and unity that filled me with joy and wonder. And as the waves continued to roll in, I knew that I was exactly where I was meant to be.

Cherry Blossoms

As the sun rose high in the sky, the city was bathed in a warm, golden glow. It was the perfect day to take a stroll through the park and soak up the beauty of the cherry blossoms in full bloom.

As she walked along the path, the cheerful and uplifting song of "Cherry Blossoms" by Yles and RINZ. filled her ears. The bright guitar melody, funky bassline, and groovy drums combined with the flowy piano passages create a relaxed, carefree vibe. It was as if the music was made just for this moment, the perfect soundtrack for a lazy afternoon in the park. The world around her seemed to slow down, and she felt all her worries and stress slip away.

‘Cherry Blossoms’ is a cheerful and uplifting instrumental with a sunny carefree feel. Bright guitar melody, funky bassline, and groovy drums sweetened by flowy piano passages create a relaxed nonchalant vibe, and thanks to the clever arrangement, the track sounds exciting and entertaining.

Idyllic

"Idyllic" is a song about a long distance-love with summer. It’s a love letter to sunshine, which warms the heart and carefully places shadows for the perfect balance. It captures the joy and hope of reuniting with a loved one and the anticipation of a summer filled with love and adventure.

The crystallic sound of the intro, which then carefully travels into the background of the song, sounds like the forgotten sound of a breeze through the leaves of a tree, a sound that brings back memories of summer days spent exploring the forests, fields and lakes. This sound, combined with the white noise crashes and warm Rhodes sound, creates a nostalgic and relaxing atmosphere, like the sound of waves crashing on a beach.

Day Nine

“Day Nine” of Mark working on the new planet as a space agriculturist. He was feeling a little bit homesick and he was starting to feel a bit lonely. So instead of diving right into his work, he decided to take a little break and spend some time relaxing. He put on some soothing music, closed his eyes, and let his mind drift.

The track “Day Nine” hits the sweet spot and provides a sense of peace and contentment. As Mark listened to this track, he let his mind wander and felt a renewed sense of purpose. The lush guitar melodies, complemented by the bright and soothing keys, emanate a warm and comforting atmosphere that envelopes the senses.

Are You There?

With our latest track "Are You There?" Sam Cross and I have teamed up with the Soul Food Horns to bring you a slow and groovy tune with contemplative melody lines that capture the feeling of waiting for someone to answer the phone. Inspired by those moments, when you wonder if the person you're trying to reach is there, "Are You There?" is the perfect track for when you want to think deeply and contemplate philosophical topics.

Jazzy chords and melodies from the piano, guitar, sax, and trumpet take turns to shine, making each instrument a unique part of the song that contributes to its captivating and thought-provoking vibe. Get lost with us in the music, and let your imagination run wild.

What The Sky Tastes Like

"What The Sky Tastes Like" is a beautifully dreamy lo-fi beat that creates a soothing atmosphere. The pulsing synth adds depth and texture to the track, while the guitar melodies transport you to a place of ethereal wonder. The drums provide a light and uplifting feeling, and the chirps in the high end bring to mind the sensation of flying alongside birds.

Behind Four Walls

eaup and I once again made a magical tune called “Tales”. This nostalgic and shimmering track reminds us of special moments we have experienced in our lives. Beautiful experiences in nature, a sunrise on a mountain, a hot air balloon ride or the moment when you first met a loved one are just a few examples of those special moments.

Cornerstone

‘Cornerstone’ immerses the listener from the first second and keeps the attention until the last one. Starting off with a spiritual tribal theme, I combine flowy guitars and intricate percussion with eloquent electric guitar passages and thick electronic synths, introducing more and more sounds until the track sound like modern electronic.

Tales

eaup and I once again made a magical tune called “Tales”. This nostalgic and shimmering track reminds us of special moments we have experienced in our lives. Beautiful experiences in nature, a sunrise on a mountain, a hot air balloon ride or the moment when you first met a loved one are just a few examples of those special moments.

Dreamgate

Natasha Ghosh & IMA came to the studio one day and brought a beautiful piano loop that IMA had pre-recorded a few days earlier. It invited some slow grooving drums and dreamy harmonic guitar tones. The slowness of the tune remembers us of entering the dream state.

Deli

Do you know the feeling when it’s so hot outside, you don’t even want to go to the grocery store? Only when you absolutely need to, you get the bare essentials from the Deli-market. That’s what this track is about. You head to the Deli, get the ingredients for a light lunch, head back home to chill in your hammock, reading a book till you fall asleep under the shady rustle of leaves. The laid-back and slight psychedelic guitar sound take you on a journey that almost remind you a bit of the sound of Khruangbin. The track has quite a mystical vibe.

Bonanza

Combining electronic production with jazzy influence, MiDN8 & I created “Bonanza” - an easy-going, summery lofi beat. Textured synth sounds are combined with jazzy piano and funky guitar in a playful, nonchalant way, and the groovy drumloop brings the head nod - every sound here is on point and placed exactly where it needs to be.

wake me up, sunshine

This track is an ode to being woken up by the soft and warm feeling when the sunlight hits your face in the morning. When you smell fresh coffee in the morning, this is the soundtrack. This chill and cozy beat really is the perfect morning vibe. The calming piano line, falls melodically over your first breath as you get up for that bittersweet coffee taste.

Lets Meet Soon

Lets meet soon is a song that is packed with captivating rhythms and jazzy acoustic guitars. Topped off with a lush guitar solo, that is layered by piano, it’s a groovy summer song, that is perfect for sipping cocktails in the sun at the beach.

Exomoon

I made this song late, on a memorable night. The moon glowed above me and lit up the thin mist in the air around. I thought up a chord progression to the match this mysterious aura. The unexpected brightness in the middle of the night surprised me. I needed to complement this dramatic night of inspiration with some impactful drums and layers of lush guitars. Does it get so bright often? It felt like I was on a different planet with 2 moons lighting up the night. With some more filtered synth notes and vintage organ sounds, the story of Ashley and Mark living in a multi-mooned planet was born.

Ashley was walking along the small canal on planet tumoonterra. She looked at the second moon and wondered if her friend made it there safely. Mark was her childhood friend, and this was the first time they had decided to go different ways. As Ashley walked through the calm night, she felt the cold breeze and realized how this was inevitable. Mark was always interested in the bigger universe. He saved up for years to go on the trip to the Exomoon and pursue his dream to become a space-agriculturist. It was all very understandable, but Ashley couldn’t bear the loneliness that Mark left behind.

Space Surfer

Our track is called "Space Surfer" because that's exactly the feeling this song portrays: surfing through space. This collab is with my dear friend and neighbor KAM COSMIC, who is a great guitarist and a very creative soul. It was very uplifting and insightful to work with a fellow guitarist. KAM really has brought his character to the song with his signature guitar and bass licks. With captivating, yet smooth sailing drums, this song hits just right!

Busy Branches

For RINZ. and Early Graden's first collab, they draw inspiration from the bustling branches with little leaf buds that foreshadow a long beautiful summer. During these days you maydecide to take a walk, until you realize it's still quite cold. So you end up in a cafe drinking hot chocolate and looking out the window at the shaky branches.

This song starts off with chirpy, breezy synths and a reverberant shaker imitating the busy branches in the wind. It then transitions to a warm blend of organic and synthetic sounds to acknowledge the upcoming summer heat.

Moving In

Do you know the feeling when you step into a new city for the first time? The curious smells, the strange sounds echoing through the unfamiliar streets, the thrill of walking into a new house! The thirst to look out the window and memorize the silhouettes of buildings!

The filtered reverberant chords in the intro open up to an old-school hip-hop-inspired beat, and in that, it captures the zest of 'moving in' somewhere new perfectly!

Desert Winds

The raw sketch for this song was made around 2 years ago. It is inspired by memories of wandering deserted streets late at night. The dark and meditative character is conveyed through mesmerizing guitar and simple piano melodies in the break, as well as a whooshing, waving drop. It encourages you to take a long, contemplative gaze at the stars and imagine the adventure of walking among them.

Filtered

With leisurely guitar licks and meditative synths, ‘Filtered’ seduces us into believing in a perfect, unblemished world; A world where every element is polished and perfected through filters before our first look. Experimentally using synths and even a steel drum in this trip-hop-influenced downtempo beat, I try to capture how intriguing yet deceiving filters can be.

Arcade

Arcade's crunchy soundscape and synths bring back fun memories of playing Arcade games. The processed digital water sounds and laser zaps are retrospective of old-school computer games. Sto Nii and I made this upbeat song in hopes of giving you the same energetic feeling that the arcade would bring.

Bridging Divides

Our world is reinventing itself every year and creating so many differences between people and generations. I feel that we need to be patient with each other and bridge some differences to create something new and insightful, while still maintaining the integrity of our individuality.

Moving Bodies

Moving Bodies is a song that reminds us of choreographic objects, visible and invisible bodies from above and underwater, performing some sort of water ballet. The slurring violin and cello lines composed by Myrthe van de Weetering give you a floating experience, whilst intriguing drums form the structure of the waves…

Long Distance

I borrowed inspiration for it from the creative spark that exists between Smokey and me, even though we're not in the same room. My initial idea for this song was clean and downtempo. Because he works more with sampling, he chopped up the recordings I sent him to give the song a fresh, raw hip-hop feel. I could feel his musical essence and individuality even though we were such a long distance apart. This is what inspired the title.

On My Way

I came up with this song inspired by a short road trip I took to visit a friend I hadn't seen in a long while. I always end up having a great time visiting this friend, so I was very much looking forward to getting there. On my way there I was dwelling on all the fun times we'd had while wishing I could drive faster than the speed limit. I had a whole weekend of trekking, camping, and barbecuing planned and had packed all my gear with me. The sheer anticipation of a short break with my friend and beers in the sun had me pumped! So, when I was back at my studio, I had to turn all that excitement into a song, and 'on my way' is the result!

Escapes

This song is very unique to me. I've collaborated with two total jazz cats. I had the privilege of working with two incredibly talented artists, DESH & Matthijs Geerts, each with their own unique approach to creating music. As a producer and musician, it was an incredibly insightful and enriching experience for me to learn from both of these brilliant minds. In fact, I even tried to learn the solo played by the pianist on this track and it took me about two weeks of dedicated practice to get it right. This song is truly unique and holds a special place in my heart because of the creative collaboration and growth it allowed me to experience."

ups and downs

“ups and downs” is a track that explores the ever-changing nature of emotions. The indecisive beat of the track reflects this theme by featuring two distinct sections - an A section and a B section - that are equipped with the same instruments but take the listener on two different harmonic journeys. The A section is characterized by an upbeat, happy vibe that is sure to lift your spirits. In contrast, the B section is more melancholic and introspective, offering a more pensive and emotional listening experience. Together, these two sections capture the full range of human emotions and offer a relatable and emotive listening experience.

Evergreen

Evergreen is a nod to the oncoming slow change that feels like it'll last forever. The growing days seem unstoppable and evergreen. This downtempo beat mimics the warmth creeping into your skin like fresh paint on canvas. Almost like an age-old tribal ritual, the universe's grand design intends for you to soak it all in--the change, the happiness, and the unexplainable newfound inspiration.

Hot Air Balloon

Close your eyes and rise! With its warm melody, ambient soundscape, and powerful guitar licks our song takes you straight up above the clouds and into the sunshine! The serene piano bridge adds to the floating experience before the dreamy fadeout brings you back.

Everything Is Moving

For this beat, Afroham made some ear-catching percussion loops with samples and some knocking drums. We then discovered the vibe of the song by adding the Rhodes chords as a foundation. I included some simple yet funky guitar licks in the mix and there it was-a groovy, energetic beat that got us moving.

RINZ. x Hoffy Beats - Still Waiting EP Artwork_no title.jpg

Still Waiting

1. Memories

This track symbolizes being caught off-guard by a memory. Imagine staring at the moon and suddenly remembering the last time you were at a beach - the warm sunshine, the loud waves, the cold water and the salty air. A memory so strong, that it sets an emotional theme for a dream... A mood so intense, that it drags by your side like a shadow! This funky track with its long guitar sequences makes us want to indulge in one such memory. The dreamy bridge sequence lets this memory linger in our minds and float around for days.

2. Empty Streets

“Empty Streets” is a track that brings you straight back to the present. With intense beat drops that hit you hard like reality, this song emphasises the need to take things seriously. Hoffy Beats and I want to gently remind you of the harsh truths of our times with undertones of shots and sirens. There's beauty in accepting reality and cherishing it. This beat makes sure of that!

3. Still Waiting

“Still Waiting” is a downtempo beat about the journey before we find the end. When things are up in the air, you never know how it'll turn out; you never know if the mango seed you planted, will eventually yield mangoes. But, if you're patient, you might get a new perspective on why you're waiting! This calming melody filled with resonant tones lets you take the time to reflect on what's important and enjoy the present.

4. Strange Places

The final track of the EP takes you into "Strange Places", emotionally speaking. I found inspiration for this song in the inner groove of a vinyl record. There was a scratch on that groove, which made a bop sound, just like a kick drum. As it was looping, I started hearing a rhythmical pattern. This inspired me to record the crackle and build a beat around it. This is why the working title of this track was ‘ideas come from strange places’. Hoffy Beats took the fundamental idea to the next level, adding mysterious elements and a beautiful melody. This downtempo track chimes a magical ‘happy place’ into existence!

Melting Snow

Nothing indicates upcoming spring like the tell-tale signs of melting snow. In our first musical collaboration, David Cutter Music and I captured the late-February longing for warm weather. The reverberant chord progression, melodious guitar sequences and chirruping shakers fill out a romantic atmosphere.

Browsing Earth

"Pick a place, any place on the globe. That's where we'll go!"

Don't you miss travel nowadays? The excitement of leaving the safety of home, the luxury of temporary lodging, the hesitation before trying strange food — don't you crave it all? This song is a musical expression of this deep travel-thirst.

Foxglove

This fresh collaboration between Sto Nii and me is about all that you want, but can't have: the forbidden Foxglove, a bell-shaped beauty, so attractive that you crave its sweet poison. First in the album 'Floral Bumps' by Sto Nii, this sexy beat seduces you with a smooth simple sax melody and sinister guitar licks. Filled with playful jazzy undertones,  Foxglove leaves you craving for those soothing piano chords.

Dusk

Imagine an evening on a vacation, the calmness of the natural beauty around, the pleasure of drinking tea in the wild, the coziness of a tent by a campfire. This song is an ode to such vacation dusks. Hoffy Beats and I collaborated on this track to cherish our mutual love of beautiful dusks in Norway.

Picnic

"Picnic" is a song that I wrote inspired by the feeling of a carefree summer day. It's about taking a bike ride with a backpack filled with delicious food and biking to a beautiful place in nature to have a picnic. The crisp and fresh sound of the song transports listeners to the feeling of being on a bike ride, the wind blowing through their hair, as they make their way to a secluded spot in nature to enjoy a picnic.

Moka

"Moka" is a track I created with my friend Letter10 Beats. The song is inspired by the rich, bold flavor of coffee and the meditative routine of making it in the morning. The crisp, yet smooth sound of the drums is layered by warm piano chords and rich basslines. The melody is upbeat and jazzy, capturing the energy and focus that a cup of coffee brings. It's perfect for setting the tone for a productive day. Overall, it's a great companion for coffee lovers who appreciate music.

Mesmerize

The other day, I was walking on the street when the clouds burst open to shoot golden rays of warm sunshine. The street came alive and everything seemed sharper. Trees glistened and water sparkled under this heavenly spotlight. It was a captivating sight that gave me a rush of energy. Utterly mesmerizing! It felt as though the sunshine was painting a smile on my face. I made this song to capture how mesmerized I was by the sunshine on a grey winter day. It reignites all those warm feelings when I listen to it.

fairground

This musical and playful collaboration between eaup and I, Fairground, is inspired by childhood memories of being in a carefree environment with the sole intention of having fun! With every guitar pluck, this melody captures the eagerness of walking through the colorful exhibits at fairs.

Static Second

Before 2020, there was so much movement around me that I would forget to stand still and take a moment to breathe. This past year has been a giant breather from my dynamic life. I made this song to reflect on this new slow-moving, long-lasting stillness. I tried to create a sense of nostalgia and tension by combining organic elements and static noise sounds. The ‘static’ sound in the intro and the eventual drop with soothing Rhodes represent a zoning out moment, a sense of hovering.

Red Umbrella Girl

So, on this rainy day, I was stuck in the terrace area of a café. It hadn’t been raining earlier that day. Suddenly, it got a bit gloomy and the sky started pouring down. Everyone on the streets scattered to take shelter or cover themselves up. Wet, gray weather like this always puts me in a low mood. So, there I was, melancholically sipping on my coffee, hoping the weather would clear up.

Just then, something else caught my attention. From the corner of my eye, I saw a young girl casually walking down the street with a red umbrella over her head. She was subtly skipping steps in the rain and there was a certain joy in her appearance. She seemed to be unperturbed by the weather and was having a great day. I wondered about all that could have gone right in her day. This made me think back to my own day and all the reasons I had to smile. So, there I was sipping on my coffee on a rainy day with a smile on my face, thanks to the Red Umbrella Girl
